September 20th

Thank you so much to those parents that came to meet with us at conferences this week!

We had a lot of questions about homework in grade four. Practicing basic math facts in addition, subtraction and multiplication to the 7x table to increase speed and accuracy! Also, reading 20 minutes a night is extremely important to improve reading comprehension, vocabulary and writing skills. There are a variety of options on how home reading is completed. Reading aloud together, being read to or reading independently are all considered reading! I encourage you to ask your child questions about what they are reading and discuss any new words they encountered.  Remember to fill in our Laser City Read to Win Contest sheet every time your child reads, and return it when complete to have their name entered in the draw to win passes to Laser City!

There is also a link on the main Page, September Homework Calendar, for those that are interested in having their child do a little extra in the evenings. These activities are both fun and academic and should take around 15 minutes to complete. The calendar will be updated every month.

Welcome back to the 2019-2020 school year! We are very happy to have your child in our class and we had a great first week together! This year, our whole school will be using Blogger for our agenda posts and weekly messages. To make it easier for you, you can sign up to have each post delivered directly to your email by going to the top of this page and entering your email by clicking on "Follow by Email" in the top box. You can also add the blog right to your home screen of your phone of iPad by following the directions below.  We hope this makes the communication between home and school easier and opens up great conversations between you and your child.
